Politics of Dancing: Ana Teresa Fernandez and Amy O’Neal
Location: Eastwing and Project Space, Building 944 Ticket Info: FREE Admission The human body is burdened with cultural and historical associations related to sexuality, paid and unpaid labor, seeing and being seen. At the same time, the body in motion is a thing of great beauty and strength. Dancer and choreographer Amy O’Neal (AIR ’08) explores these concerns and contradictions with her group locust, integrating music and video with dance to create compelling performances. Painter Ana Teresa Fernandez (Tournesol ’07-08) considers similar issues through her own performances and collaborations with other performance artists in her community, which she both commemorates and transforms in her paintings.
