a.Muse presents RayKo Gallery Director Ann Jastrab and a panel of eight contemporary photographers who will discuss current developments in the photography scene and in particular, the idea of a generation gap between established and up-and-coming photographers. The event will take place on Wednesday, August 31st at 6pm and is open to the public who are encouraged to participate in the conversation. Panellists include: Gérman Herrera, Rachel Phillips, Luis Delgado, Philipp Striebe, Deborah O’Grady, Niniane Kelley, and Kirk Crippens. The work of these eight photographers is to be exhibited in “ReGeneration,” a new exhibition which will be on view from August 11th through mid-September. ReGeneration is the brainchild of curators Luis Delgado and a.Muse director Lori Shantzis who wanted to explore if a "generation gap" existed between the older and younger sets of photographers. Ann Jastrab, MFA, is a fine art photographer, master printer, and teacher. She is currently the Gallery Director at RayKo Photo Center and regularly participates as a juror and reviewer for a multitude of organizations: the San Francisco Arts Commission, Academy of Art in San Francisco, Artspan, San Francisco Art Institute, Fotofest, Photolucida, Review Santa Fe, Review LA, PhotoAlliance, Society for Photographic Education, Fotovision, the Savannah College of Art and Design, Click646, and Critical Mass. Ann has also been teaching at the Maine Photographic Workshops (now the Maine Media Workshops) in Rockport, Maine, since 1994. She has been conducting portfolio reviews for several years for The Worskhops as well as RayKo. She is always looking for new artists for the gallery, both for solo shows and group shows, as well as potential teachers, staff and students for The Workshops.
