Feast of Words: A Literary Potluck Featuring Kevin SimmondsPost an Event »

Feast of Words is a monthly potluck hosted by Irina Zadov and Lex Leifheit where writers and foodies come together on the 3rd Tuesday of each month to eat, write, and share. August’s Feast of Words will be an exploration of the best of the best. The theme “Blue Ribbon” is inspired by Frontrunners: The San Francisco Foundation 2011 Murphy & Cadogan Fellowship Awards Exhibition, a juried exhibition of the best work coming out of regional fine arts MFA programs, on view in our Main Gallery August 17th – September 16th. This Feast features poetry from Kevin Simmonds, award winning poet, artist, and musician raised in New Orleans. Simmonds will read from his forthcoming book Mad for Meat, an exploration of sex, race, and culture inspired by his travels to Japan. Our culinary guest, head chef of Canvas Underground Peter Jackson, will present a Cajun Ramen, a hybrid dish to accentuate Simmonds’ eclectic poetics. You may remember Jackson from Feast of Words in April with literary guest Kirya Traber! How Much: $10 in advance, $12 at the door, $5 with a potluck dish, cash bar. What Else: This month’s theme is is “Blue Ribbon”
