Visiting Artists and Scholars Lecture Series: Think Art – Act Science panel discussion Pe Lang, Kinetic Speakers
This panel discussion elaborates on themes presented in the exhibition Think Art – Act Science, in the Walter and McBean Galleries from September 21 to November 12. The exhibition is a collection of projects by artists who took part in the Swiss artists-in-labs program, completing an immersive nine-month residency in a scientific research institute or a university science department. Hou Hanru will lead the discussion with exhibition curator Irène Hediger and artists Alexandre Joly, Pe Lang, and Alina Mnatsakanian. The exhibition is arranged around three main research themes addressed by artistic investigations: Ecology and Environment, Spatial Awareness and Emotions, and Exploration of New Technologies. The panel discussion (7:30 pm) follows the opening reception (5:30-7:30 pm). The international project Think Art – Act Science developed out of the Swiss artists-in-labs program, which began as a collaboration between the Institute for Cultural Studies in the Arts at the Zurich University of the Arts and the Federal Office of Culture in Switzerland.
