Artist Statement "I often try to wrestle from scavenged, mundane materials, such as Styrofoam, some kind of surprising connection to landscape as a way to examine my desire for redemptive symbiosis. Like many of my comrades, searching for an appropriate scale for human activity in the landscape has increasingly become a preoccupation of my artmaking. With this work I take as a measure a landscape painting from nearly 150 years ago, Frederick Church’s The Icebergs ."
