The opening celebration for Illuminations: Día de los Muertos 2011 features music, interactive performance and the unveiling of over 30 altars created by more than 80 artists from the Bay Area and beyond. Join us for a special performance by Herbert Siguenza, of Culture Clash fame. Siguenza, who has been touring the U.S. in a one-person show called A Weekend With Pablo Picasso, will perform and live paint as the renowned artist. There will be a Day of the Dead themed artists market and additional performances by contributing artists in their installation spaces, such as Flamenco dance and a musical procession of paper caleveras. $6-10, sliding scale admission.
