Temporal Landscapes Tim Collins & Reiko Goto Collins, CO2 Uptake in the leaf, High Resolution Electronic Image, 2008
Location: Eastwing and Project Space, Building 944 Ticket Info: FREE Admission The shifting structure of our cities and environments often determines what is newly constructed and what is inevitably destroyed. Tim Collins (AIR ’08) and Reiko Goto Collins (AIR ’08) collaborate with artists, performers, and scientists, examining current issues surrounding public space and ecology. Currently they are working on “Eden3-the loss of the tree”, a project that explores the biogenic interaction of trees with the changing atmospheric chemistry and climate of cities. Equally inspired by environmental transformations, Liz Hickok (AIR ’08) creates glowing, jellied scale models of urban sites, through the use of mold–making, photography and Jell-o. Hickok changes the massive and seemingly unmovable city structures into something unexpected and ephemeral, commenting on the precarious and unstable nature of our cities.
