Creative Minds: The Thing QuarterlyPost an Event »

The San Jose Museum of Art (SJMA) and the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) will co-present the public program “Creative Minds: The Thing Quarterly” on Saturday, January 14, 2012, from 1 PM to 5 PM. The program will begin at SJMA with a talk by Jonn Herschend and Will Rogan, visual artists and editors of The Thing Quarterly. This unique publication invites artists, writers, musicians, or filmmakers to create a useful object that in some way incorporates text. Herschend and Rogan will discuss their collaborative projects and the realm of artists’ publications. After the talk, visitors will have the opportunity to view SJMA’s exhibition Book-ish, which explores the influence of literature and the book on visual art. The program will conclude at nearby ICA (560 South 1st Street), where visitors will tour the group exhibition One Thing Leads to Another and see a demonstration in ICA’s Print Center. Tickets are $10 ($6 for members of SJMA and ICA), which includes the lecture and admission to both venues. Tickets are available online at livesv.com.
