Edgar Heap of Birds, Wheel, 2005. Denver Art Museum

Opening Wednesday, February 15, 4-7 PM Followed by a special Wednesday Visiting Artist Lecture: Edgar Heap of Birds 160 Kroeber Hall, 7:30 PM Edgar Heap of Birds is a leading artist of Cheyenne and Arapaho descent who lives and works in Oklahoma. He will exhibit two new series of monoprints at WRAG, entitled Dead Indian Stories and Personal Notes. A short film about Heap of Birds’ large-scale public sculpture, Wheel, installed at the Denver Art Museum in 2005, will be screened. A Professor at the University of Oklahoma, he has been exhibiting since 1979, including numerous site-specific installations and public art projects across North America as well as in Europe, South Africa, Asia and Australia, including the 52nd Venice Biennale.
