Parallel Visions Left: Simon McAuley, Project Ability, Scotland/Right: Hung Kei Shiu, Creativity Explored, San Francisco
Opening reception: Thursday, March 8, 7 – 9 p.m. Parallel Visions, the latest exhibition at Creativity Explored Gallery, shows work by artists from five different art and disability organizations paired with work made by selected artists at Creativity Explored. The resonance felt between these artists, working in disparate studios across the globe, is uncanny and inspiring. On view will be a range of artwork, including figurative ink drawings, text-based work, and abstract pieces that emphasize unique mark making practices. Parallel Visions will present the impressive works by artists from five art centers — HAI (Hospital Audiences, Inc.) in New York, NY; Project Onward in Chicago, IL; Gateway Arts in Brookline, MA; La Hesse in Vielsalm, Belgium; and Project Ability in Glasgow, Scotland — as well as works by Creativity Explored artists in San Francisco, CA. While each organization has their own unique vision, they are united by their dedication to fostering the talents of artists with disabilities — providing space and resources for artists to create, exhibit and sell their artworks. Gallery hours: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.; Thursday 10 a.m. – 7 p.m.; Saturday & Sunday 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
