Gallery Hijinks is proud to present Infinite Color, a group exhibition guest curated by artist Mark Warren Jacques. In the past Jacques has exhibited his own works of art at Gallery Hijinks and throughout those exhibitions we were consistently impressed with not only the works but the world of art and artists that Jacques creates around himself. With his interest in emerging artists and his unique perspective on art and it’s disciplines, Gallery Hijinks wanted to give Jacques the opportunity to bring together these elements and share a little bit more of his world and the other artists in it. Please join us for the opening reception on March 3rd, 2012 from 6-10pm. Infinite color will feature works from artists Stephen Scott Smith, Kevin Bouton Scott, Joshua Petker, Chris Valkov, Seth Neefus, and David Wien. In Jacques own words: “Like Art, Color is by definition infinite. It is the visual perception that enables us to continuously experience all of life in new ways. This exhibition aims to explore works of Art that act as a stage for color to perform its unbounded dance. The works have a wide variety of mediums and diverse subject matter. Each artist brings to the group their own personal visual styling. From Dave Wiens folk inspired wood carvings, to Chris Valkovs rigidly precise paintings, the pieces themselves simply act as a platform for each artist to investigate what color means to them and their art practice. Jacques states, “as an artist I am constantly fascinated by how we perceive colors in an infinite variety of ways. How by putting two colors together we create a mood, or tell a story. The curation of this show is an extension of that wonder. How will this diverse rainbow of artists utilize color to tell their individual stories?” Infinite Color, a group exhibition curated by Mark Warren Jacques, opens at Gallery Hijinks on March 3rd and runs through March 31st, 2012. This event is open to the public.
