Selected Works: An Installation Image: UNTITLED triangle fills 1 2012 5.5 x 17 x 9 inches (installation measurements may vary)
Opening Saturday, April 7, 3 to 6 pm I’m continually amazed and excited by how we understand and perceive objects. For example: a ball appears sphere-like instead of as a flat disc solely because of its shadow; and yet we rarely notice the light it interrupts or the shadows it casts. Lines delineating the edges of things enter our vision by the thousands every hour (every minute) but we attend only to the objects these lines contain, and almost never notice the actual lines themselves. -- David Fought littlebigspace is pleased to present the work of San Francisco artist David Fought with an opening reception Saturday, April 7, from 3 to 6 pm. Fought utilizes an elemental visual vocabulary of line, mass, surface, and shadow, while working with tarnished hanger wire and yellowed construction plaster. From these utilitarian materials he creates elegant objects that are uniquely of their own world, but firmly and distinctly present in ours. Fought’s work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally at venues such as Viridian Artists, New York; Ine, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan; and the Mills College Art Museum. He received a BA from the New College of California and an MFA from the California College of the arts. littlebigspace is an alternative space for the visual arts in Albany, California. Open 11 to 3 Saturdays and by appointment
