Air Warp: Swing and Weave - Tie-Up Closing Party

Sway on swings rigged to rafters, or relax in an upcyled denim woven hammock. Walk into Make Hang, have a cup of tea, envelop yourself in textiles or weave on the loom - whether you are young or old, add your touch and color to the next weaving or sculpture at Make Hang. Aline Dargie is the Co-Founder and Curator of Make Hang’s textiles studio and woodshop - a unique space where 3 dimensional, tactile, art is explored and made. Since its founding June 2010, this innovative space for creativity and community engagement has had numerous events and exhibitions. Artists exhibited include David Delgado, Stephen Stout, Lance Fraser, Victoria DeBlaissie…. among others. Not only is art made and exhibited, but collaborations abound. Make Hang Tea Blend, was designed by artisan tea entrepreneur, Ronnie Padilla inspired by Dargie’s work “Air Warp.” “Air Warp: Swing and Weave” was inspired by sailing through ocean swell flooding through the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco’s rolling fog over her hills, Aline weaves up a storm in Make Hang. “Air Warp” weavings are light, airy, draping from the walls and ceiling, like fog floating over San Francisco, and burning off into the sky. The weavings ebb and flow as you move on the swings and hammock. Make Hang’s indoor art gallery playground will be in full swing March 15th, from 4 to 7pm, when Aline teaches a free, drop-in learn to weave class at her loom in Make Hang. This interactive installation will be on display at Make Hang until the Tie-Up closing party on Friday, March 23rd from 6 to 9pm. At Make Hang a special emphasis is placed upon artists who use ecological processes and upcycled, unexpected materials in their work. Make Hang Gallery is a hang out spot in North Beach where our diverse community can come to create as well as enjoy, learn and add to their collections of art.
