On the Edge of Culture - Opening Reception

Carol Koffel, "Hung on a Line"

The Chinese Culture Foundation opens "On the Edge of Culture," a group exhibition presenting an experimental take on culture, on Thursday April 5. Pieces represent direct interpretations from "1.5 generation" artists—artists having a foothold in two or more cultures— and features Artist-in-Residence Carol Koffel, with Stella Zhang, Jiang Xueman, Liang Liting, Liu Yin, and a video exchange with Fei Contemporary Art Center in Shanghai. Koffel is the Foundation's inaugural Artist in Residence. Her central installation, "Without Passport," is challenged to incorporate community elements into her work and experiment with culture and 1.5 generation.
