Opening Reception March 30th, 7-10 PM Please join me on March 30th at Zughaus Gallery for the opening reception of Polychromes, a new series of paintings that explore color. The works in this exhibition begin with a simple color choice: blue, a shade of red, a complex mixture o green and violet, a tint of orange. This initial color becomes a ground, a point of departure and a compass. There is no preconceived idea or plan. All shapes, drawn lines, incidental marks, and other colors, derive from this first decision. The result is a series of negotiations between intuitive and formal choices derived from an initial color selection. These pieces are about sensing. They are an encounter with the rational and emotional energies that are generated by individual hues. They explore the unpredictable, kaleidoscopic and multifaceted character of color through the interaction of lines and shapes. This series of new works aims to crystallize one possibility among the endless potentialities that exist within a particular color.
