University of the Commons is a collective of teachers, activists, and students dedicated to the idea of education for the sake of education. On Saturday, June 2, from 2 to 7 p.m., we invite the community to join us at Artists’ Television Access to celebrate the launch of a free educational community project. What are the “commons”? They’re the creations of nature and culture that belong to all of us equally, including human knowledge. We’ll have a roundtable discussion and share snacks, drinks, and music by the Brass Liberation orchestra. Our first 6 courses, starting in June, will be on topics including Western music, filmmaking, literary criticism, science literacy, computer history, and Occupy activism. Please join us at 992 Valencia Street in San Francisco on Saturday, June 2, from 2 to 7 p.m. and become part of the movement to share our knowledge for the benefit of all. UOTC.org
