One-Thousand Twenty-Six Eyes
Philadelphia-based artist collective Space 1026 presents One-Thousand Twenty-Six Eyes, an exhibition of photo-centric artwork alongside a large collaborative sculpture at Hamburger Eyes Photo Epicenter. October 9 – November 8, 2008 Opening October 9, 2008 5 - 9pm Hamburger Eyes Photo Epicenter 26 Lilac St. San Francisco, CA 94110 http://www.hamburgereyes.com http://www.photoepicenter.com http://www.space1026.com San Francisco, CA – On October 9, 2008 the Philadelphia-based art collective, Space 1026, comes to San Francisco for their latest installation. Using photography as their inspiration, Space 1026 artists present a wide range of work, bringing their unique perspective to the medium. One-Thousand Twenty-Six Eyes also features the latest large-scale collaborative sculpture by the collective. With over 150 slide viewers embedded in its walls, the glowing geodesic dome provides an intimate snapshot-oriented view of the artists of Space 1026, whose members have shared a collective workspace for the past 11 years. Swelling in the center of the gallery, the sculpture invites the audience to see beyond the walls of the studio and into the everyday experiences of Space 1026’s members. Much like the workspace they share, One-Thousand Twenty-Six Eyes captures the need to create a place for the individual while attempting to define our relative position within the world around us. Space 1026 has previously shown at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, The Institute of Contemporary Art of Philadelphia, Cinders Gallery, Bravinlee Programs, 96 Gillespie Gallery in London, Lobot Gallery, and the P4 Gallery in Milan amongst others. Known for their signature collaborative installations, this exhibition marks the first time that Space 1026 has focused primarily on photography. Artists featured in the show include: Andrew Jeffrey Wright, Adam Wallacavage, Alex Lukas, Bill McRight, Caitlin Perkins, Chris Kline, Clint Woodside, Crystal Kovacs, Crystal Stokowski, Dan Murphy, Delilah Knuckley, Jonathan Finnegan, Isaac Lin, Jake Henry, Jacob Marcinek, Justin Myer-Staller, Jodi Rice, Jason Hsu, Kyle Schmidt, Mark Price, Max Lawrence, Meg Kemner, POOPS, Roman Hasiuk, Ted Passon, Thom Lessner, and William Buzzell.
