Shapeshifters Cinema presents an evening of improvisation and live experimentation with moving images and sound. John Davis will combine his film projections with live soundscapes created by Joshua Churchill. The duo will also collaborate in a musical performance with live synthesized video feedback.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
John Davis works with moving images and sound, expanding their relationships through experimentation, chance, collaboration and improvisation. Current performance work investigates various sound and image delivery systems, their material bi-products, and the range of sensory possibilities that exists between them.
Joshua Churchill is a San Francisco based cross-disciplinary artist whose immersive site-specific sound and light work takes the form of both installation and performance, very often blurring the line between the two. Utilizing resonant frequency drones, field recordings, and processed acoustic and electric musical instrumentation, Churchill’s dynamic works compel one to become critically aware of their surroundings by exploring the aesthetic, emotive, and structural qualities of the environments in which they are situated.
