state, a new gallery space in the Mission District, is pleased to announce Across From Us, a solo exhibition by Bay Area-based artist duo, t.w.five. Formed by two partnered artists, Pernilla Andersson (Sweden) and Paula Pereira (Brazil), t.w.five’s latest showing is inspired by their shared experience of living abroad as foreigners in the cultural melting pot that is San Francisco. T.w.five’s exhibition at state will feature a site-specific installation that will cover the front gallery in their signature medium, adhesive backed vinyl. The application of commercial-grade signage vinyl continues inside the gallery, where t.w.five will be creating two large landscapes rendered in both daytime light and nighttime light that explores the artists’ choice to live so far away from their families and loved ones.The exhibition will also feature select pieces from t.w.five’s larger-than-life Polaroid series that addresses the concept of societal diversity by investigating notions of togetherness. Across From Us will be on view from August 20 - September 30 with an opening reception on Saturday, August 20th from 6-9 pm.
