The Fear

Savernack Street presents The Fear: The work is a sound installation set in motion in 2012 that consists of a countdown synced to a looped track of the artist's recorded heartbeat. The piece was inspired by a scientific study that found all mammals to have approximately 1.5 billion heartbeats in the span of a lifetime. The countdown is accessible online for the approximately forty-two years that it will run before the screen goes blank, as well as in the site-specific installations created within this time period. Anna's hope is to inspire reflection on time and mortality.

Anna Landa immigrated to the United States from the former Soviet Union in 1989. She received her BFA in Art and Design from California Polytechnic State University and is currently based in New York City and San Francisco. Anna’s practice reflects her fascination with the fickleness of perception, and she creates two dimensional works and installations exploring the space between conscious reality and the unknown.
