Artist Project Space Residency: Amy Ho

Kala Art Institute is pleased to announce our first Artist Project Space resident in 2014: fellowship artist Amy Ho.

The Artist Project Space Residency is a new facet of the Kala Fellowship Program that invites artists to develop projects in a studio space open to the public during their residency period. This program is geared toward artists making work that is appropriate to develop onsite and engages the public in some form. Artists are given access to a 20'x25' project space for one month, in which time it is open to the public for viewing during normal gallery hours.

"Over the course of my month at the Artist Project Space, I plan to experiment with altering the room through projection. Instead of working steadily on one final piece, I hope to continually transform the space during my time there. Some of the transformations will be dramatic while others extremely subtle. Some will be architectural while others will be image based. Visitors will be invited to give feedback and to revisit the space, as it will be changing every 3-4 days."

Amy M. Ho builds video and spatial installations that bring attention to our existence as both physical and psychological beings. She received her undergraduate degree in Art Practice from UC Berkeley and her MFA from Mills College. Amy was selected for the ProArts Gallery 2x2 Solos series in 2012, and is a recipient of a San Francisco Arts Commission Individual Artists Grant for 2013. Amy will be doing residencies at Kala Art Institute and Studio Kura in 2014. She currently works and lives in the Bay Area and is represented by Chandra Cerrito Contemporary.
