Kala Art Institute is excited to present When it moves without moving… like WATER, a screening and conversation between current fellowship artists Felipe Castelblanco and Jamil Hellu. Current Fellowship artist Felipe Castelblanco will present his recent video work, Driftless, which explores the fluidity of public spaces through interventions in large bodies of water in several countries. In addition to screening this work, Felipe will present research materials that have informed his process. From there, he and artist Jamil Hellu will discuss themes central to both of their practices including questions surrounding the presence of contemporary public art in unusual or contested public spaces, and the materiality, politics and contradictions of water as a medium for public engagement.
