This exhibition covers Bay Area artists who primarily work with etching. This exhibition encompasses techniques ranging from traditional approaches to contemporary photo mechanical methods with digital image making. It will illustrate why artists choose this particular medium and are deeply engaged with it in pursuing their creative and artistic endeavors. This exhibition shows “the nexus of Bay Area Etchers”; it bridges various Bay Area printmakers’ communities that exist independently and have no formal relationship, such as Graphic Arts Workshop, Kala Art Institute, and CCSF Fort Mason, as well as the studios of various independent printmakers. Various generations of artists are in the portfolio to illustrate different approaches to etching that can serve to anchor the next generation of printmakers.
