Chelsea Pegram: Select Works
A new art gallery is set to open on July 24 with select works by Chelsea Pegram. The gallery’s name, Three30Forty, refers to its address at 330 40th Street at Broadway. Opening reception is Friday, July 24, from 6-9pm. Chelsea Pegram’s work explores the structures and phenomena of the natural world. Pegram will often frame these natural structures within smooth and sleek man-made forms, emphasizing their organic emergence. But above all, the common thread that links Pegram’s varied explorations is her innate understanding of materials. No matter the medium at hand, a curiosity and a playfulness are apparent in her adept and confident handling of different media. Three30Forty is founded by curator Valerie Leavy and will feature emerging Bay Area artists working across disciplines with an emphasis on sculpture, painting, drawing, and photography. Three30Forty seeks to provide artists with a professional venue in which to showcase and sell their work, and is dedicated to the development and success of its artists. Valerie Leavy is formerly the co-founder and director of Satellite66 Gallery in San Francisco.
