“Being observant of the natural world is an integral part of my life as an artist," Dillbohner says. While out in the field, out in the world, she mentally records what she senses and observes, pays close attention to shifts and changes in her surroundings. The raw, sheer force of the earth, the manipulated landscapes and urban settings become part of her considerations which explore relationships between nature and abstraction, matter and light. During the painting process in the studio she then draws from a vast mental library of visual impressions. She notices the tug of the unfathomable while images arise, and intuitively searches for views into and vistas of infinite expanses of the interiors of nature. By plumbing the deep seas of the unconscious she comes to find and hold these images on the painting’s surface.
Dillbohner’s works have been extensively exhibited in California, Germany and Japan. This is her 8th solo exhibition with Don Soker Contemporary Arts in San Francisco.
