Photographs trap moments in time, granting immortality to otherwise fleeting people and things through the power of the printed image. Crystals too defy the passage of time in the solid physicality of their glistening angular structures, seemingly eternal objects in unchanging form. In her latest work, Elena Kulikova materializes the meeting of these two enduring forms in Crystallize, an exhibition of crystalline garden installations and sensuous photographs.
An artist and professional photographer, Elena Kulikova creates more than images by literally growing crystals onto her photographs, expanding and deepening her creativity through multiple processes to create a multi-faceted and explosive visual experience. Kulikova transforms the ordinary into the supernatural, bringing together the human and the elemental into an exhibit unlike any other.
