Premiere Solo Exhibition of Works by Gabriel Luis Perez: Reconnoiter
SACRAMENTO, CA — EN EM Art Space, located at 1714 Broadway Street, is excited to join the burgeoning contemporary art community in Sacramento. Focused on exhibiting conceptually and formally challenging works, EN EM Art Space will debut with Reconnoiter, a solo exhibition featuring the mixed media works of Gabriel Luis Perez, a recent MFA graduate of Claremont Graduate University.
Perez (http://www.gabrielluisperez.com) says of Reconnoiter, “My work is a filtered reflection of the people and spaces I encounter through travel and a migratory lifestyle. I use materials gathered through a collecting process that borders hoarding, alongside traditional art supplies, to create objects reminiscent of shrines or curio cabinets … [and] invite the viewer to enjoy the aesthetic of hybridized culture.” Much like any traditional shrine, Perez’s works embody intricate layers of materials and meaning.
Reconnoiter will be on display at EN EM Art Space August 9th – September 6th, 2014 with a reception on August 9th from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Introduction to the artist at 7:00pm.
