DESCRIPTION: Imagine somatics + Kate Bush + Ciara: we'll get sweaty and circular, moving our A$$ muscles and feeling our insides together. Read at least one passage of Sappho (your choice; see resources below), and come ready to project yourself into history while invoking ancient greek women and contemporary goddesses. Wear gym shoes and an outfit that brings out your deep femme/tough exercise queen. RESOURCES: Anne Carson's "If Not, Winter: Fragments of Sappho": http://www.scribd.com/doc/82932076/Anne-Carson-Sappho-If-Not-Winter#scribd Poetry Foundation's Sappho resources: http://www.poetryfoundation.org/bio/sappho#poet Poets.org Sappho resources: http://www.poets.org/poetsorg/poet/sappho Poems of Sappho (Julia Dubnoff, trans.): http://www.uh.edu/~cldue/texts/sappho.html
