Ladies and Gentlemen, In Technicolor!
Chris Love pokes fun at cultural brainwashing this March Our minds are filled with silent dictates. A mass of cranial detritus accumulated over a lifetime of exposure to film, internet and television. Within these sources, archetypal characters emerge through narrative patterns: heroes, villains, vixens and crones. With repeated exposure and consumption, our perceptions, behaviors and expectations are ceaselessly formed and manipulated. Chris Love plays with these contrived characters from conventional media using color, imagery and pattern, exploring the socio-psychological implications of such accepted fictions on the individual's personal and social awareness and experience. Classic Cars West is proud to host the solo exhibition of Chris Love's work this March, with an opening the 6th during the Oakland Art Murmur's First Fridays Art Walk. We will be open on Friday between 6 and 10 pm for visitors to experience Love's rambunctious paintings and relax in our beautiful beer garden alongside our collection of classic cars! For those unable to make the opening, Love's work will be available for viewing until April 25 every Saturday from 1-5 PM as part of the Oakland Art Murmur's Saturday Stroll Art Walk.
