Lauren McKeon and Renée Rhodes

Please join us for the fourth installment of Interface Gallery's Bodily Engagements series, with sculptures by Lauren McKeon and a performance installation by Renée Rhodes. McKeon's The Depth of Things consists of a series of small, minimalist sculptures. The works, each reiterations of past sculptures, are dispersed around the gallery floor with an emphasis on their relationship to one another and the surrounding space, They are at once tactile, poetic, lovely and absurd. As one moves around the work, there is a literal experience of spatial depth, as well as a heightened sense of interior, unseen depths evoked by the quiet, simplicity of the objects and their conceptual referents. Rhodes presents elements of her performance installation, Endless, which will be activated by a durational performance score presented on weekends during the project (schedule below). Endless combines video, story-telling and a movement score performed by Rhodes with Melissa Lewis and a chorus of long distance ghost writers. The piece explores relationships between place, memory, technology and the body.

Installation Open During Gallery Hours: Th-Su 11-4 Endless, Performance Schedule: March 5th / 12-4pm March 6th / 12-4pm March 12th / 12-4pm Note: The performance is a twenty-minute score repeated on loop throughout the days/times listed. Visitors may come, witness and wander away as they please. Bodily Engagements is an eight-week series bringing movement and visual art practices into relationship. It is supported by funds from The Zellerbach Family Foundation, Kennith Rainin Foundation, and The Clorox Company Foundation.
