Join us on October 22nd 6-9pm at Verge for a discussion with artist Lucy Puls and Dena Beard, curator of Lucy Puls: [just you]. For the past three decades, Lucy Puls has been turning objects and photos of abandoned domestic environs into insignias of the consumer world. She received her M.F.A. from Rhode Island School of Design. Her work is represented in numerous collections including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Oakland Museum, the Achenbach Foundation for Graphic Arts, and the Jewish Museum in New York. Puls is a Professor of Art at the University of California at Davis. She lives in Berkeley, California. Dena Beard is the Executive Director of The Lab in San Francisco. She previously worked as an assistant curator at the Berkeley Museum of Art and has served as an art critic, and educator, and sits on advisory committees for Bay Area organizations such as Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and the Headlands Center for the Arts. Beard received her B.A. in Studio Art and Cultural Studies from Scripps College, California, and her M.A. in Art History, Theory, and Criticism from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
