Vital Geometry & the Magic of Completion is a presentation of new images by Nando Alvarez-Perez. At the heart of this work is the intimate meeting between the photographer and the photographed, the viewer and the viewed, and what emerges from that encounter: a biune hallucination, a diharmonic riddle with no definite answer. For Alvarez, the making of photographs is an attempt at intimacy with the visible world, a willingness to be bound up in its mysteries, an ecstatic leap of faith. Here the signs and objects of esoteric traditions are presented in a new context. From Egyptian gods to Giotto’s frescoes to the contemporary cult of the cat, Alvarez’ new body of work is an invitation into the mysteries of the mundane.
