Rural Studio Turns 20!

“Rural Studio Turns 20!”
Celebrating 20 Years of Citizen Architects

Join us in celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Auburn University Rural Studio! The studio honors the vision of its founders, Samuel Mockbee and D.K. Ruth, by focusing on housing as they design-build eight “20K Houses” for the community. The 20K House is an ongoing Rural Studio research project addressing the need for affordable housing in Hale County, Alabama.

We're bringing Rural Studio to the Bay paying homage to its unique culture, with our sights set on adopting one of the 20K Houses being built this year. Food, drink, tunes, games from the small-town design-build stage, “Hale County Tea,” and local luminaries in design conversation. Join us at David Baker Architects with other alum and friends of the Rural Studio like Public Architecture and SPUR.

Partake in the Rural Studio experience: Friday, October 11th, 2013 from 6 – 9 pm.

Auburn University Rural Studio has been in Hale County since 1993, hoping to have been a good neighbor and friend to the community.
