Simone Leigh’s exhibition at Gallery Wendi Norris marks her west coast solo debut. Code Switch will feature an array of Leigh’s ceramic sculptures that are at once referencing African and African-American historic objects with a contemporary sensibility. Queen Bee, a large ceramic chandelier-like sculpture made of cowrie shaped shells, will be installed alongside two of Leigh’s video works. As part of the Visiting Artist Lecture Series, Leigh will be speaking at San Francisco Art Institute on Wednesday, February 5th at 7:30 pm.
