The Dryansky Gallery Grand Opening

The Dryansky Gallery, a visual arts gallery featuring painting, photography, sculpture, and works on paper, will be celebrating its grand opening on Thursday, October 23rd with a reception from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend the reception and enjoy sparkling wine and tasty French cream puffs.

The gallery’s first exhibit, American Dreams, features bold and colorful photographs by artist and gallery co-owner Geoffrey Dryan. This exhibit will be on view until November 13, 2014. Shot in San Francisco, the greater Bay Area and Santa Fe, New Mexico, Dryan’s photographs of street portraits and classic cars in suburbia trigger a sense of nostalgia and communicate the artist's search for "home" in both space and time.

Geoffrey Dryan, born in 1974 and raised in the Bay Area, spent 7 formative years abroad while receiving his education in the areas of theology and Russian literature. Upon returning to San Francisco in 2002, Dryan came upon photography as a means to explore his past and the country he had left behind. His photographs featuring serene suburb studies with classic cars are an expression of his longing for the familiar secure landscape he loved as a child. Also in his open and uncomplicated street portraits, Dryan seeks to retrace his roots as an American among fellow Americans, as if wondering whether bridging the gap, going back to the past, is in fact possible.

The Dryansky Gallery is located in the heart of Cow Hollow at 2120 Union Street, between Webster and Fillmore streets. The gallery hours are Wednesday – Sunday, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The Dryansky Gallery exhibits regularly scheduled 6 week long solo and group shows by local and international artists working in a wide range of media with a focus on painting, sculpture, photography, works on paper, jewelry and textile art. The gallery supports emerging talent as well as showcasing established international artists who have yet to be exhibited in San Francisco.
