David Garnick, "View from Powell Street, Emeryville", 2015, photograph
David Garnick will discuss the creation and inspirations for the photographs from his series, "Thirty-Six Views of the Bay Bridge". The series is a play on "Thirty-Six VIews of Mount Fuji" by the 19th century Japanese woodblock artist Katsushika Hokusai. Garnick's series features the new eastern span of the Bay Bridge, its sweeping cables echoing the slopes of Mount Fuji. The photographs include close-ups taken on and under the bridge, as well as landscapes with the bridge on the distant horizon.
