Alter Space is delighted to present our newest Peephole Gallery exhibition, Body Language, by Jennifer Hennesy.
This installation sees the artist co-opting a material- driven language often seen in commercial signage with layering techniques inspired by 18th century peepshows. Through the imaginary passage of the peephole, Hennesy’s etched glass on edge-lit panes highlight light, depth, and lettering. The cryptic phrase ‘Aerospace See’ is inscribed between the various peepholes.
New Orleans-bred artist Jennifer Hennesy’s work is a curious, vibrant, and sensual exploration of relationships. Her pieces capitalize on the fact that line is the foundation of symbols, language, and expression. In 2011, Hennesy graduated from California College of the Arts as an Individualized major, with an emphasis on both graphic design and fine art. She has exhibited her work at Google’s headquarters in Palo Alto, The San Francisco Center for the Book, and the California Academy of Sciences. Jennifer Hennesy currently resides in Oakland, CA.
