Continuum

Alter Space proudly presents Continuum, an exhibition in painting and sculpture by Jamie Emerick, featuring a participatory performance series from Malaise Airways.

Continuum refers to transitory states where the exhibition’s components seek a place between loss, renewal, inquiry, and possibility. The front half of the gallery combines Emerick’s painting and sculpture. These pieces are a contemplation on the wear of personal histories and the traces of everyday routine. Emerick’s works convey an expansive and eternal atmosphere through calm yet vital gestures of drawing and obscuring.

In second half of the gallery, Emerick and her co conspirators, Malaise Airways, have built an installation that asks for deep exploration. The gallery has been divided into various rooms, each engaging you through visuals, sonics, and performance. Enter the ticket office then be lifted to that moment before you realize you’re dreaming. Wake up, a narrow aisle takes you through areas that inspire adoration, personal examination, and relaxation. The airplane door is open, so you proceed into an unfamiliar room, culminate in the red carpet lounge. Do you have any baggage you wish to declare?

Continuum also includes three private dinner and performance events to be held at the gallery. Please inquire early to book your ticket or visit online at MalaiseAirways.com.
