Fair Use Fair

Are you working on a media project that uses, quotes or remixes a copyrighted work? Have you ever wished for your very own Fair Use Godmother to help you navigate the murky, sometimes intimidating territory of copyright? BAVC invites you to bring your most daunting fair use dilemmas and samples from your media projects to The Fair Use Fair. This event will give you the opportunity to show your work to Patricia Aufderheide, the woman who wrote the book on Fair Use. No really, she wrote the book on it. Using the clips and examples that you bring in, Aufderheide will help to provide you with the expertise and confidence you need to make fair use determinations for yourself. Join us at BAVC May 25th 6:30 - 8:30pm RSVP to let us know you are coming! If you are attending the event and plan to show a sample of your work, please send an e-mail to Lauren O’Connor to add your name to the list. Priority will be given to active BAVC members. Non-members can add their names to the list and will be allowed to show their media once all interested members have shown their samples. Examples of what you might bring: Excerpts from audio recordings, documentaries, archival footage; slides from presentations; ads, blog entries, etc.
