Balloon 3 (fluorescent light bulbs) paper, 2017
CAPITAL is pleased to present Substation 8, a solo exhibition by New York-based artist Bill Jenkins. In what seems like near darkness, Jenkins creates a large-scale installation, creating massive light ducts that redirect the natural light from the gallery's windows and skylights. After some visual adjustment, the changes to the gallery became clearer. Jenkins harnesses the light into specific locations within the gallery and uses the controlled lighting to illuminate his paper mache sculptures that resemble organic material, control panels, and storm grates.
